Haven't found a day glow orange in years.  For the dark red, when I need an acrylic (I don't use acrylic often, though) that is not available in hobby shop paints, I go to my local Michaels store and look in their store brand acrylic paint line- an awesome selection of colors (except for day glows).

Hand painting Danish Catalina - looking for flat day-glo orange and dark red acrylic

Howdy all,

I just picked up a sweet old Revell 1/72 Catalina Black Cat (1969!) from a thrift shop, but I wanted to paint it up with something a bit more exciting than all black.  Denmark applied a fairly interesting livery to their Cats - if you google "Danish PBY Catalina", you'll see their Cats tipped in a striking day-glo orange, with a dark red (crimson?) upperwing.

I usually use Tamiya acrylics, but it seems Tamiya doesn't make a flat orange or flat dark red, and I'm having trouble turning up anything else.  Does anyone have any suggestions for where I can find these colors in acrylic?

Cheers,

Matt
