Airbrushing Humbrol paints
Posted by DRod on Saturday, August 19, 2017 9:06 PM

I am building an Airfix kit that came with paint. I figure it is Humbrol enamel. What ratio is recommended to mix for airbrushing?  I have Tamiya enamel thinner.

Thanks

If you're talking about the little clear plastic pots of paint that come with some of the new Airfix kits, those are Acrylics. I have heard no good feedback on them, but have no firsthand experience with those paints.  But based on what I have heard, I suggest that you ignore those paints and work with your preferred brand and type.

Oh thanks for the warning!!  I will order the color I need.  I wondered since the colors seemed to not mix when I tried to shook the small container.

Humbrol enamels in the metal tins are great paints. But the acrylic ones provided with the Airfix kits have a bad reputation.

What kit are you building?

I am working on the S-3 Sea King from the Royal Air Force Rescue team. I have enjoyed putting it together.  Now on to paint and detailing
