Aw Chuck. I think it is kind of necessary for a base for decals on flat finish. But thin.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I don't recommend Future for general painting.  I only use it to protect clear canopies.  I think it is just an unneccesary extra layer of paint and doesn't really improve anything on general surfaces.  Just my 2 cents worth.  The fewer coats, the better.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

Thats right and I agree, can't hurt to wait a day. Acrylic dries from the outside in, as compared to enamel which does the opposite.

LDF

I'm hand brushing some smaller parts with Tamiya acrylic paint, and it looks like it goes on thicker than an airbrush. I'm then going to apply a topcoat of Future before decaling. How log should I wait for the paint to dry before applying the Future topcoat?

I use Vallejo acrylics, so a little different, but not really, but I wait a day after I paint to then use future.  That may be conservative, though.

The thing is, just because acrylic is dry doesn't mean is cured.
