Here's a link to Alcad's site. It gives examples of the colors, and application suggestions. Some very useful information on the use of Alcad II. (I LOVE the stuff, by the way !)

Hope this helps !

i've tried a few black gloss primers or undercoats which ever term fits best.
i've used tamiya Acrylic Black Gloss. then i used Alclad Black Gloss. Then i used Enamel Black Gloss.
when they say in the instructions, to use enamel black gloss, they're pretty much right from where i'm standing.

Enamel gives the best and toughest black gloss out of all three that i have used. it's even tougher than the "lacquer" Alclad Black gloss. for some reason, my alclad black gloss keeps on rubbing off with my fingers. and i let it dry and cure for like 2 days. and they just come off on my fingers. it's like the heat from friction just melts it or something.
Enamel also has a more shiny and reflective quality to it. and if you want your alclad metal finishes to be shiny, you will need a shiny black gloss.

i don't know if they sell Future, where you live or i'm not sure if it is called Future in Denmark, but you can also use this to make the black gloss even more glossier. mine became pretty glossy. you can see yourself in it now.

hope this helps.

Thanks again. I'll try with different gloss black primers on a piece of scrap plastic and see what works.

that i dont know my friend. me, $5.00 is not a lot of money to pay for the alclad gloss black primer. i mean, a 1/4 of an once with easily cover most 1/48 scale war birds, so you can go a long ways with one container of the real stuff. if you buy it, you know you cant go wrong. but i do know this, it is imperitive to have a nearly flawless gloss black primer coat to use the alclad metalizers and achieve good results. good luck. later.

monrad, i dont know if its available in denmark, but swanny (one of the resident aircraft experts) says you can use Krylon gloss black in the spray can to prime the model before applying the metal finish. for better results, he says to take a straw and spray the contents of the krylon spray can into another container and then put into your airbrush and spray it on. you dont have to thin it or anything, just pop it into your ab and let it rip. hope this helps. later.

I am from europe and I have been reading about this alclad paint and recently I saw a model finished with alclad and it looks great, but nobody knows about this stuff here in Denmark. Is there an online shop where I can get it Question [?]Question [?]Smile [:)]
