Painting A BF109.
Posted by Rory T on Monday, October 30, 2017 9:37 PM

Hello, I am building Revells Messerschmitt BF109 G-10 Erla, I have been told that the color call out is wrong for the model?. The 2 main colors I am not sure are call outs Q=RLM83 Dunkelgrun and S=RLM74 Dunkelgrau. These call outs are for the top side of the aircraft, Are they the correct colors as they look ok to me, any ideas on this issue would be great Thank You in advance. Have a great day.

I am not familiar with the kit. But it would depend on the individual aircraft. There were several colours used by the Germans in the late war period, for fighters in particular its hard to pin down a certain standard. I am currently doing an Fw190D-9 and have found 3 different colours schemes for it from different sources.

Because there was less standardisation, and B&W photo's are not always much help, its often guesswork.

83/75 is the colour i am doing my 190 in as i used that on a 72nd kit of the same aircraft earlier this year as i found 2 sources which both agreed on that for the particular aircraft. See if you can find anything of the exact aircraft your doing which might give you some clue.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
