Hi Guys

I'm new to Model Building and having a heck of a time finding the right

color BLUE 2 paint the fuselage on my newly

bought STEARMAN PT-17 Bang Head

Question(s) Please:

1- What's the best color BLUE 2 use?

2- What brand paint company?

Thanks

How are you planning to paint it?

spray can?

brush?

airbrush?

If going the spraycan route, Testor’s bright blue would be a close enough match.

Airbrush, I would probably go with Tamiya light blue (acrylic) or Model Master gloss light bright blue enamel.

handbrushing, I would suggest Model Master gloss light bright blue enamel.

Those may not be exact, but often “exact” doesn’t look correct in the model world anyway, and I believe these would certainly get you close enuff.

Gloss blue according to my Stearman instruction guide.

However, I came across this interesting topic from britmodeller website:

Hi Schooner - I posted this in General Modeling as well, but I used Model Master True Blue FS15102 and Chrome Yellow FS13538 on a couple of Stearmans recently and that looked about right to my eye.  Whatever you choose good luck and post pics!
