I thin in the jar. I figure if it is too thick to hand brush it is not good enough for any use.  I thin it down till it is appropriate for brush use. I have to thin it further, of course, for air brush use.

I paint right out of the jar (MM enamels also).

I recently learned to dip brush into thinner first (as G mentioned)...makes a big difference!

Guilty. Probably not best practices. When I thin enamels, or even just use my brush dipped in thinner, I use little disposable paper cups.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

I never thin directly from brush to jar. I'd use something like a pallet dish found in most arts and crafts store or Walmart.

When brush painting and you are not thinning your paint do you go straight from the jar or do you always use a secondary container? I use testors or model masters paint.
