Clear coating Gunze sm08 super metallic

Hello all,
I purchased a bottle of gunze plate silver next, but I didn't pay attention to the warnings in the side which said it cannot be clear coated. Since my air tank is out of air right now, I can't test it. How much does it dull the finish anyway? I can live with it if it's similiar to alclad, but if it turns it into flat gray, I might have to buy some other paints.
