Thanks but post not about debating the usefulness or not of an ultrasonic cleaner. Just trying to get an idea of what people that do have an ultrasonic cleaner use to clean their airbrush. Thanks.

In my personal opinion, I feel an ultrasonic cleaner is not a must-have and a waste of money. I see it as an overkill.

I couldn't agree more. I happened to read the instructions on my H&S Revolution and it would seem, that when all is said and done, that it is NOT recommended to place most of the pieces, such as the body (with it's internal pieces), in a U/C. I seriously thought about purchasing one, but the more I analyzed it the more it all seemed superfluous. Money better spent on other necessities. ;)

I used to have one, to be frank the cheap small units aren't great anyway and you can get a brush cleaner with a manual thorough clean in under 10 minutes with this method.

Meh, I think I gave all of $30 for mine and I use it for other stuff as well, like cleaning my eyeglasses (no risk of scratches, unlike using a cloth) and my wife’s jewelry and what-not. I’m somewhat of a lazy SOB, so anything that‘ll make my life just a little easier I don’t consider overkill.

Not sure if windex is a good idea. Ammonia and brass don't go together very well. Ammonia will damage your airbrush.

I use 1 part water, 1 part windex, 1 part simple green. I also only place the cleaning fluid in a small jar/cup that allows me to place the airbrush nose down in it.  I then place that in the sonic cleaner that is filled with water, this allows for less cleaner to be used at any one sitting. I can also change the cleaner depending on the type of paint used without having to change the fluid in the sonic cleaner.

I sometimes use a powder that I got with my first ultrasonic cleaner. I think it's the same powder jewelers and dentists use.

Or I'll pour in a bit of acylic airbrush cleaner.

Actually, I think a few drops of Dawn sounds like a splendid idea and I might give that a go at my next cleanout/refill.

I uae only acrylics as well and I just use plain old tap water with a drop or two of Dawn and it seems to work quite nicely. I’m certainly open to learning what others are using though.

Airbrush and Ultrasonic cleaner question

Hi, got a question about cleaning solution. For those that use an ultrasonic cleaner to clean your airbrush, what type of cleaning solution do you use?

I only spray acrylic paints.
