Patriot 105 not releasing paint
Posted by Relic213 on Saturday, January 13, 2018 10:07 PM

New to airbrushing though I've managed to not completely screw it up in the past.

Air pressure out the nozzle is fine but when I pull the trigger back to release paint it blows out the paint cup.

Last time I used it I cleaned it pretty throughly and have torn it down twice tonight and havn't sprayed any paint, from the nozzle at least. Now the whole assembly is sitting in 91% alcohol and I'm curious what I've missed.

It could be a split nozzle, or maybe the nozzle is not sealing well enough against the body of the airbrush.  Examine the nozzle closely with a magnifier to see if the tip is split.  Then look at the other end of the nozzle and the hole in the airbrush and look for any scratches or particles of crud.  If you don't see any problem, try a little bees wax on the edge of the opening in the airbrush body.  I keep a little chunk of bees wax just for that purpose.

If your Patriot has the rubber O-ring between the head and the body, try removing it.  It may be that you are not tightening the head enough to get a seal.  Without the O-ring, finger tight should be enough.

Well the tip on that one has six tiny and I mean tiny little holes.

I occasionally have soaked it in laquer thinner for a bit, then really blown them out.

That a/b is durable and trustworthy, but it takes a good clean regimen after every session.
