The F-22 "Have Glass" paint isn't really metallic, but it sort of looks like it depending on the angle of the light.  The light grey on the nosecone and edges of the wings don't get this coating, but the rest of the aircraft has it.

I took your suggestion and had the camo scheme enlarged.  I might just be able to make it work.

Thanks.

Thanks.

Where would you find these aftermarket masks?

Thanks.

Now what Bob has said fascinates me because I have not run across this paint scheme.

I am building the Italeri 1/48th F22A.  They suggest Flatt Matt Gray/Flat Blue Gray/Flat Light Gray and Flat Gun Metal.

I bought the Valejo Model Air USAF Grey Schemes set because I need to finish my F18C and start the F16C/D.  The paint card suggested Ocean Gray/Aggressor Gray and Light Ghost Gray for the F22

So, what is a guy to do? :>)

Thanks.

I'm building an F-22, myself.  I'm posting about it in a couple of the group builds, but haven't gotten very far yet.  Actually there are two shades of grey with the metallic/pearlescent sheen.  It seems most modelers duplicate the look by mixing in some metallic paint with the grey paints.  I've been experimenting with mixing Jacquard Multipearl powder into PMF and overcoating regular paint with promising results.  I'll post more about it when I get to that point.

Not to throw a monkey wrench to your painting session but one color that aircraft calls for is Have Glass FS36170. Mission Model paints carries that color. You might want to consider using that color for your build.

Thanks for the pointer.  I suppose from the images I see on-line it should be a hard edge.  I hope I can explain to them exactly what I want correctly.

Thanks.

Have you tried looking for aftermarket masks?

If soft edge, yes.  If hard edge, I took measurements ot the F-15 I'm doing that has the 2 color gray scheme.  Took the paint scheme page down to the local copy center and had them enlarge to full size.  Now I can cut out and place, run my tape around the edges of the cutouts, mask off the light gray and shoot the dark.

I just measured wingtip to wingtip, and wrote it down for them, they did the rest.  3 sheets of legal size paper and $0.87, I was good to go.

...the easiest/effective way to mask off an F22 Raptor for camoflaging. I have already painted the fuselage, wings, etc. The leading edges have been masked and painted. Would BluTac work here?

Thanks.

Thanks.
