Are those seams/joints really perfect and ready for paint or foil? A fast and easy test.

silver paint and primer work well too and are less pricey. 

That's true, but I then I would need to wait for the paint to dry before moving on. 

A silver Sharpie marker also works really well.

Bare metal foil on aircraft.... hate'em. 

Not to mention taking them off if doing it in camo. grey, navy blue, or other color schemes. Such a waste of time and effort in my opinion.

Primer and silver paint (even marker) works best - especially primer. I don't waste my time with bare metal foil except when using them for chrome trim on auto/truck kits.

 Good tip JonnyK. We all have had the mystery seam show up at the wrong time.

As with all tips and ideas there are often differing opinions as to what can be used to solve the same problem.  I’m sure they all have merit.  I’m sure your contribution will help someone else solve the same problem, if they have not had success with those other processes or feel uncomfortable with using them.
