To heat treat or not to heat treat.

So I am at the point on that Academy F-15 where I am painting the heat shields on the bottom and the top, but it seems to bright, I was thinking about using some of Vallejo's Transparent smoke and Transparent blue to make the heat shields there look like they have been not burnt, but exposed to the heat of the engines.  Any thoughts?

If you have a good airbrush you can put down a fairly good transparent (very light and thin) coat of regular paints. It is also possible to drybrush those stains  Either way, go very easy on it- less is better!  It is easier with a DA brush, thin paint-almost a wash- and lots of air with little paint flow.

Try using Alclad products instead.
