I have done it with small parts, or for touchup.  Never tried it on large areas.

I don't bother with decanting paint from rattle cans. Too much work to deal with and not worth the trouble for me.

I guess anything is possible.

I only decant, into a paper cup, on the rare occasion when I've used a colored spray can for the overall finish and I need to repair or touch up something.

 Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
