I was looking closely at the new paint racks at my nearest Hobby Lobby yesterday looking for a certain color.  I noticed that while the military colors are now missing, there are new colors in the general purpose colors section.  Seems funny that they would be bringing out new colors if they plan to discontinue enamel paints.

I know many of my modeling friends have transitioned to acrylics.  Maybe the sales of the military colors have dropped off.  I do some car modeling and some airliner/civil aircraft where I need gloss finishes, and I find it easier to get a good gloss with enamels, so I'll stick to those for gloss colors even as I have to switch to acrylics for military subjects.

Just curious what the new colours Were?

The ones I noted were semi-gloss and some metallic colors.  I hate kits that say to paint every bare metal surface silver!  So I like variations on bare metal.  They now have a flat steel, a flat aluminum and a gloss aluminum.  Also new appears to be a gloss chrome.  I think this is new, the chrome used to be only in the square bottles.  I hope it is a new mix using the technology like in those chrome pens.  I know it is not that new, but I really like their recent semi-gloss black.  That seems to be replacing the black chrome, which has no been available now for a couple of years.

Heh... Hobby Lobby. I’m finding myself going there even less and less than ever especially after hearing they refused to give my niece the day off because she was graduating from high school and her parents planned a little celebration afterwards. She ended up quitting her part time job there. Good girl.

Ive lost all respect to Hobby Lobby after the fiasco with them acquiring some religious artifacts illegally a year ago or so. Not to mention they’re a bunch of holy rollers with their beliefs. Not that I’m against religion but something about them rubbed me the wrong way. Oh well, I don’t have to go there to give them the business on a regular basis.

Chris, I ditto everything you've said about MM. I've picked up Gunze's line of Mr Color paints, and am kicking myself for not transitioning sooner.

Don, I have always been a die hard mm enamel guy but I cannot tell you how many half full bottles I have been forced to throw away. So very often the paint just goes bad. This is unacceptable for a tiny bottle costing so much. I am in the process of changing over to mission model acrylics and am delighted with them.
