Looks like Tamiya recently(?) released XF-88, 89, and 90, which are listed as dark yellow, dark green and red brown, intended for the "typical 3-color camouflage employed on German WWII vehicles."
I wonder if this means some new stuff is in the works? Or maybe they just randomly decided to release these colors?
Considering their extensive catalog of German WWII vehicles, I don’t think that it is anything in the works. After all, they recently issued new RAF aircraft colors. I would guess that they are just addressing the fact that many of their original colors were generic and not matched to any standards like FS, ANA, RAL, RLM, or BSC.
F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!
U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!
N is for NO SURVIVORS...

The description applied to all three suggests they're just a lighter version of the originals to allow for darkening during weathering.
"It is a slighly lighter hue to allow for application of weathering, etc. "
Nope. Not newly released colors....
Seems to me they are just trying to catch up with the rest of the world.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.

Actually they are. But revamps of colors they had previously issued. Like their second take on RAF colors and IJNAF colors. And they have come out with a few new colors in their extended line- IJN ship colors and JGSDF vehicle colors. Slowly but surely they are doing better in the paint area.
