The foil was brand new direct from BMF. I recently finished a B-29 and a B-24 in BMF with no issues. I got halfway through finishing a B-58 in BMF and ran out of foil. I purchased some foil from BMF and the foil ends up having an orange peel finish after burnishing. Unfortunetly the B-58 is on hold until the foil issue is resolved.

There are no substitue foil product. Bare Metal Foil is the only company that makes them. Unless you go the route of using Alclad paint instead. Two or three things could be the cause -  old / defective foil, applying the foil sticky side up or the surface isn't oil free before applying.

Perhaps someone else will chime in.

Substitute foil product for Bare Metal Foil

Does anyone know of a substitute foil product for Bare Metal Foil? The last few sheets of their Matte Aluminum have been unusable because the foil has an orange peel appearance after it is burnished. I am trying to finish my 1/48 B-58 but it is on hold due to the foil problem. I am resisting trying to make my own adhesive foil because it seems to be a huge hassel.
