Steven Zaloga recommends Tamiya as a good match for WWII US OD. But that is too dark for my taste in the ground forces shade of OD. Model Master recently released a nice version of Olive Drab #8. And I do like AK Real Colors as well as Mission Models paints from my experiences with those brands. Sometimes I like to use good old Testors square bottle Olive Drab and add a bit of their Flat Black to get the shade I want.

I used Tamiya Gray liquid surface primer, then a black base coat of Tamiya NATO Black before I applied the AK Real Color. But I was trying out some new thechniques on that build. I’m sure the Tamiya primer would have been more than sufficient on its’ own.
