I usually give it about half an hour. Silly putty really doesn't have a lot of 'grab' to it, so it's pretty hard to pull anything up.

Silly Putty Mask/Tamiya Paint Q?
Posted by stikpusher on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 4:37 PM

A quick question for those who use these two items together- How soon after airbrushing on Tamiya paint can it be masked with Silly Putty and have it not pull up upon removal? 15 minutes? 30 minutes? 1 or 2 hours? I’ll be thinning with lacquer thinner to speed up the drying process....
