Hello everyone!
I recently purchased a kit in the Frame Arms Girl line by Kotobukiya. While I was at the shop, I opened the box and saw the paint colors needed (Mr.Color) and bought all of them. Later that day I watched some YouTube videos of these kits being built. In one of the videos, the guy makes it a point to know which runners are ABS, and after cutting the parts off he uses Tamiya ABS cement. I had never heard of it, but then again I'm relatively new to the hobby. So I did a little more investigating on ABS and saw some articles where people say not to use Mr. Color on ABS since it is a "solvent-based acrylic paint" (lacquer). They noted that their Gundam models were brittle and breaking on the areas where Mr. Color was used on ABS parts. Why do Kotobukiya (and Bandai for the Gundam) recommend Mr. Color paints since it is harmful to ABS? Or, is there something I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mike
