Quick Airbrush Recommendation Question

The fan cap is about $10-$12 depending where you get it from. Amazon has them fwiw. You will need the medium nozzle/needle set ( .66). But you should be able to get out to 1-1/2" or so with the standard .66 setup. Proper thinning, distance and pressure should get you into that ball park. Then you keep your circle pattern. The way the fan cap works is it narrows the width but lengthens the height of the pattern, so it's narrower and taller, one could say slightly oval vs round. It works the same as most 1/1 guns do. Nice concept but not all modelers get along with it.

The fan cap will do 3" to3-1/2 " passes in the right hands. If you shoot in closer it will be more like 2". Nice for 1/12 and 1/8th scale automotive models, big ship hulls etc. Course one is free to say that's my opinion lol.

Thx, guys. The fan head is a good suggestion. (Probably would save me some money if I got that instead of a whole new airbrush.) 

As for how wide, maybe from a 1” to 2” pattern...Is that what the .66mm cap and tip sprays? 

Maybe I sound like a novice; but the Talon IS my first AB... :)

FWIW Paasche will probably suggest using their fan cap, that's what its for and it fits the Talon airbrushes when using the #3 needle set. The fan cap produces a long narrow pattern vs the round pattern you get now with standard head. I think they advertise 3-1/2" pattern.

I can get that from my Paasche H and my Badger 200 but they guzzle paint to do it. You just make sure it's thinned nice, add a little agent to slow the dry a little bit, open the sucker up, crank the pressure to 25 or 30 psi and back away from the work ( you have to back away or you're gonna hose it down), that widens the pattern and basically fogs the paint on. Comes out great, just half of what  you shoot through the brush goes out the exhaust fan. I see no reason why a Talon with #3 standard needle wouldn't do the same thing, just know it will suck your paint down quick.

Go straight to the source. Find a number for Paasche and call and ask them since you want to stay with their brand.

How large a pattern do you want? Some Grex, Neo, Iwata spray gun styles are pretty large patterns, but in reality after a certain needle size or spray pattern you loose control and atomiztion.

What width pattern are you wanting to spray? The Talon's #3 tip with the fan head will give you a pretty broad pattern, controlled by distance and pressure.

Which other brand models? Do they have wider spray patterns?

Paasche Talon. Best they make anyway. There are many better brands and models but you asked for Paasche.
