Second attempt thinned with the same lacquer thinner sprayed fine, great results. I cleaned that same mixing bottle well with lacquer thinner is all. Did up a new batch of paint and it sprayed awesome. Done deal. Kind of sorry I brought it up lol !
keavdog Ditto on the IPA - I use this for all Tamiya bottle paints when airbrushing. About 50:50

As mentioned above, I use either lacquer thinner or 91 ipa. I mix around 50/50 as well, some colors 60/40 ( yellow is one).
This is the first I've ever had a hickup ! I'm going to mix another batch today and shoot it on a test piece and see what happens. I'll post back later.
modelmaker66 I use 91% IPA no problems. Also lacquer thinner works fine.

Ya I shot the black with ipa 50/50 before I posted yesterday, just dumjped out the batch I made up with the lacquer thinner in it. I use either also as I mentioned in my first post. I must have had contamination in the mixing bottle, I'll try it again today and mix in another mixing bottle with lacquer thinner and do a test shoot..
I'll post my outcome here.
Thanks,
John
X-1 is gloss black acrylic, anyone have an issue thinning this with Klean Strip lacquer thinner ? I've thinned quite a few of Tamiya colors and the clears with this thinner, no issue. But the X-1 wants to separate the film with kslt in it, cut 50/50. No problem with 91 ipa in that way. Maybe my mixing jar is contaminated, I've never encountered this with Tamiya acrylic and lacquer thinner. and incidentally it's the same can of thinner I've been using all along. I've bought a new can that hopefully isn't the green stuff going around but this can is the original.
