I haven't tried Mr Levelling thinner, but certainly with Tamiya lacquer thinner, when airbrushing gloss paints, it gives a better gloss finish than when you use X-20A.

I use X-20a or Mr Leveling thinner. With the gloss when you spray it I've heard you spray a very light mist coat of straight thinner and it produces a beautiful finish

You can safely use either,Tamiya sprays very nicely. Some folks use water,ISO Alchohol, windex, lighter fluid and so on.I prefer their Lacquer Thinner but their regular stuff is okay too.

Need opinion for tamiya paint thinner

I am currently in search of a clear that I like and have considered trying Tamiya (gloss and flat). I have never used this paint and have heard that using their lacquer thinner makes for a harder coat. Is it neccessary to use lacquer thinner or does their typical thinner (X20-A) do well enough? I ask because I prefer the lower toxicity of their regular thinner which I believe is alcohol based over LT. I have also heard that using Mr Leveling Thinner gives excellent results, so I do not really know what to choose.

I typically model military aircraft but I have a couple autos in the queue...hence the wondering about the gloss coat since I plan to polish it to a high shine.
