Welcome to the forum, and welcome back to the hobby! Things have changed a lot over the years. I'm 53 and build for a few years and then get out for a few years. Every time I come back I find tons of new things going on.

Some people bend coathangers to hold their models, some stick a dowel or pencil in an exhaust or prop hole. I just use a block of styrofoam. I paint with acrylics, and they dry so quickly that I just site the model on a styrofoam block, spray one side, let it dry for a few minutes, flip it over and spray the other side. A couple of hours later I repeat the process.

Grab the airbrush, load it up, and practice on some scrap. Practice is the key to using an airbrush. If you need any tips on using it, you can get tons of help right here!

Stand for Airbrushing

I'm 70 years old but new to aircraft modelling in general and airbrushing in particular. Years ago I did some plastic ship models and some buildings for an HO railroad setup but always with brushes. Now I'm helping a grandson put together a 1:48 set of all U.S. WWII combat aircraft. My daughters bought me an airbrush for Christmas which I'm trying to work up the nerve to try to learn to use.
How do I mount the models to paint them? I don't think the fighters will be a big deal but the B-17, B-24 and B-29 units are a little beyond my imagination. I have built a booth out of a cardboard box which will work fine but I can't figure out how to suspend the big planes while I'm airbrushing.
By the way, I'm strictly a glue and paint modeller to this point. Most talented junior high kids put together better looking models. BUT I'M HAVING FUN!
I will appreciate any help anyone can offer.
