I was wondering what is easy safe way to remove the chrome plating that is put on by the company for auto kits?

"What are you guys Doing?"

"We're putting on the Foil!"

Soak parts overnight in 50/50 bleach and water.

Easy-Off oven cleaner works for me. I spray it on, wait a couple of minutes, then wipe it off. A toothbrush is helpful for nooks and crannies.

Soak it in Windex.  Add a little ammonia to speed it up.

Gimme a pigfoot, and a bottle of beer...

I use gel formula Drano. Brush it away with a dedicated tooth brush, rinse with water. Takes about 30 minutes usually but some pieces for whatever reason may be ready to brush in as little as 5-10 minutes.

All of the above, or none of them. It really depends on the kit. I've had some where it just won't come off.

Easy- Off usually works well. Drano is lye, the same thing.

I've not had much luck with brake fluid, but again try it all until you get one to work.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
