Testors Model Master products discontinued.
Posted by scigs30 on Tuesday, March 24, 2020 8:26 AM

I was reading Testors Facebook page and see they are now confirming they are no longer going to produce Model Master paints or products.  I know last time we hear this it was just a rumor, but now they are saying it is so.  I also emailed Testors and wait for the their response.  Here is their response on Facebook, you can read it under visitors comments.

Testors Thank you for reaching out. As a manufacturer of paint products, we have a long history of producing hobby kits and supplies. To that, we are evolving our strategy to focus more keenly on Testors, our flagship brand and are discontinuing our Pactra, Aztek, and Model Master Brands as the demand for these products continue to decline.

You have to click on posts on the right side of the page under photos.  Then go to visiter posts on the right side of the page to see their response.  I just received an email from Testors:

ROProductSupport (roproductsupport@rustoleum.com)To:you Details

Hello David,

Thank you for contacting Rust-Oleum Product Support.

Yes this is correct that we are discontinuing the Model Masters and Aztek products. Unfortunately due to the lack of support for these product lines we made the difficult decision.

The Testors line of paints, both enamel and acrylic, are still being manufactured and there are plans to expand the color lines.

If you have any additional questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,

Geoff

I wonder if they will add in some military colors and such to the regular Testors lineup.

I'm shooting more and more acrylics these days anyway, even craft paints, so it's not the end of the world for me. It's a little strange spraying clear lacquer on old cars but if you put just enough to buff it out they still look great. I'm finding Minwax clear lacquer to spray well and buffs up real easy. Three nice thin coats does it, if you get it too thick well then it looks of all things, like it's clear coated lol !! I have a full quart of that, it will last me the rest of my life if all do are models with it.

If I was doing a lot of military I would buy more heavily into Vallejo Model Air paints. For me those spray great. But for me so do craft paints, not quite as nice as VMA but pretty good if mixed right.
