Advice for weathering
Posted by dazzjazz on Sunday, April 12, 2020 4:11 AM

Hi,

I've arrived at the weathering stage for this Me109 E-7 Trop And would appreciate some advice on how to weather it properly. I do have Tamiya Panel Liner, but it usually burns through the clear coat so I'm nervous about using it. ruined the last Me109 that way.

I am thinking about making a wash from my existing Vallejo Model Air paints.

help!

You can use soft pastels and accomplish the same thing the panel liner does. Or, you can just do an overall wash with pastels and you don't have to worry about them burning through your clear coat as well as the benefit of simple water clean up.

Ever use Flory wash?  Its great as it’s clay based and comes off easily.  On a gloss coat it stays in panel lines and cleans up everywhere else.  On a flat matte surface it gives an overall grimy weathered look.  It also comes in a variety of colors. Dirt grime is the most popular.

No, can't say I've heard of either technique.
I do own a Tamiya weathering palette- is that pastels?

thanks

Darren

Not sure if they are pastels or something else very similar.
