I don't think I've heard they were "going out of business", i.e. having the brand name retired.

What I have heard, including from Aaron Skinner here, is that Testors is discontinuing some or all of their Model Master line, including a lot of their mititary colors.

I've never heard Testors was going out. I heard about Model Master last year in Sept. I did wonder if they might in the place of MM increase the regular Testors line.

FWIW our local HS guys say the only new Testors they have seen are not military but camo for pine car derby and such. According to them they just pulled the MM line though and that was that.. You just told us more than I've heard in months !!

Testors- what is going on!
Posted by Don Stauffer on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 12:29 PM

I have been traumatized, like many, about the discontinuance of Testors paints being discontinued.  I was shopping at Hobby Lobby today, and noticed a flyer hung on a rack near their paints.  It was a Testors flyer about their modeling products, with "great new paint options".  The flyer talks about camo colors, and shows images of a new brand label.  One image features Model Master Fantasy War Colors.  It talks about new weathering markers.  The interesting thing to me is that the brochure refers to a Hobby Lobby web site!  What is going on here!  I talked to a manager at the store, and she did not know of any corporate connection, but she said that is a very popular product there, and they are constantly restocking the paints but have had no problems.

When I went to Michaels on the way home were new Testors products I had not seen before (thick get acrylic medium).  I went to the Testors and Rustoleum web sites and they were showing the complete line. What is going on here?  The only thing I can find about the discontinuance is on modeler forum sites.

Why all the promotion of the products if the Brand is going out of existance?
