Ya 3-4, sometimes 5. Really I go for the look I want and stop. If I'm just sealing things I might go 1-2 but that's not what you're asking about.
Also by no means do I always clear coat with lacquer or for that matter at all. FWIW
I want to be able to use compound or polish on the finished model and it seems like lacquer clears airbrush on very thin. How many coats do you use before you are finished? 3 or 4?
