So now im thoroughly confused. This model has been hull painted for a long time. The bottom and above the bootstripe is AKI and the stripe Tamiya acrylic. I just brushed on some MM Acryl w/ a tad bit of water to thin and the black smeared. The MM isnt suppose to be thinned more, right? Ive never before... Any ideas what caused the black to smear after drying so long? Trying to figure out what i did wrong here. Oh, any way to remove the smear before too long?
Keep on modeling!
All the best,
William
Hmmm;
Hard to tell. I will say this though. That's one of the reasons I NEVER liked M.M. acrylics!

whats your preference For acrylics ? Have to say Ive usually sprayed gloss and flat when I've used it before with no issues. I'm stumped on the smearing though....
Model Master Acryl paints all seem to be ammonia based, so they'll eat just about anything off when applied with a brush. If you're stuck with using that, try airbushing it on...it should dry quickly enough so it doesn't mess with the colors. I had a bunch of MM acrylics at one time, and when I found MM enamels to replace them...I chucked them all...they're pure garbage. Tamiya makes a rattle can of semi-gloss synthetic lacquer, TS-79. Haven't used it, but it might be worth a shot.

ok, so what is this stuff?? Like i said ive brushed before with no issues but ive really used it much more airbrushing.... Just reading the label now - havent in awhile. Reads water clean up but if you want to thin use #50496 Acryl Thinner. And to clean airbrush after use, use Acryl Solvent #50498. So if its water based, why do you have to use the other stuff? Does anyone use this stuff? What say you?
PS - their website is terrible
It won't be an issue much longer, The line is discontinued.
Chemistry.
Don't try it again, right?
