OD For WWII Easy 8
Posted by Tojo72 on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 12:54 PM

Thinking about a future project, what is a good OD basecoat for a WWII Easy 8, I prefer Tamiya or Vallejo but will take other suggestions.

Much obliged

Mission Models OD 319 is what I’m using on my M46 build now, and I’m really liking that color. I used Model Master Enamel OD #8 on my wading M4A1, and that looked REALLY good. But unless you can find a bottle in some shops old stock, the odds are not good to get more. Tamiya OD is too dark and a bit on the green side. Gunze aqueous has three different ODs: one for WWII aircraft, one for modern stuff (FS 34087), and one for US vehicles. I really liked the armor shade for vehicles. I dont know if they make it in their Mr Color line. I haven’t used Vallejo OD yet, so I can’t comment on that brand. I’d like to see how AK Real Color OD is also...

F is for FIRE, That burns down the whole town!

U is for URANIUM... BOMBS!

N is for NO SURVIVORS...

Good luck. The entire Model Master line has been discontinued by Testors.

Uhh, thanks, I am well aware of ModelMaster being discontinued.

I was speaking about taking the Mission Model plunge.

Think about it, Hmm Model Master has been around for decades,of course I have used it.Mission Model is the pretty new stuff in comparison that I want to try out.

But thank you for the helpful info, and by the way,I have been able to procure a lot of my old favorites from the Model Master line on Ebay if you are interested.

Oops. Sorry about the MM confusion. As my high school senior English teacher was fond of saying, "Context is everything."
