How do I lighten AFTER painting?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, April 12, 2004 10:19 PM
Well I sprayed my CF-18 with pollyscale FS36375( first time ) and it was too runny. Banged Head [banghead]So instead of stripping, I tried some MM Acryl FS36320. All I had since Acrylics in this area are poorly stocked. Of course it is too dark. My question: Can it be lightened without stripping, and how?

You're still on your base coat? Just mix it lighter, and re-spray.
To be honest, I usually spray the base coat darker anyway, and spray on progressively lighter base colors in patterns and areas that suggest highlights, panel lines, whatever. Gives you a good, subtle difference in the end.

Actually, some folks prime with black to achieve "pre-shading."
I've tried it with armor a few times, and it works quite well.
