Badger problem- pickup tubes.
Posted by Don Stauffer on Sunday, November 8, 2020 8:51 AM

I have two old Badger airbrushes, a 150 and a 200.  These are from the days when the bottle cap was metal and the plastic pickup tube joined a metal fitting at the top of the cap and the connectioin with the main unit was a metal press fit connection  The tube wore out (hardened) such that it would no longer fit the metal nib in the cap-it would fall off.  So I got by using the remaining tube in both brushes.  Now that one no longer works!

I cannot find a replacement at Badger.  I suppose I could buy one of the new jars.  How well do these plastic things fit into the main unit- do they remain secure?

I had thought of using model airplane fuel lines, the small diameter tubing for half-A engines.  But those small engines seem to be obsolete, replaced by electric motors.  Anyone know where to get small diameter flex tubing that would fit the Badger airbrush jar lids?

Hi Don;

    Yes! I have a good source for that stuff. Well, actually two. First is my local Medical Supply house and Second; The Company that makes fittings and supplies for the Oxygen industry. ie. Oxy supplies for individuals.

    The second company sends the stuff to my friend and he brings it over from the house.A third possible source is the folks that make parts for the R.C. Racing Boat market ( Gas).

 I also made some of my own out of Aircraft grade Tubing ( Aluminum) and built some new Brush, Unit to Bottle fittings. All using Aircraft parts. They can be found. Just look in the less obvious places!

I have some alminum and some brass.  I have thought of building an adapter from that stuff.  But the wall thickness is insuffient to drill out the closest size (3/32)  I considered soldering pieces of 3/32 and 1/8 together and drilling out with closest drill size. I need about 105 mil.  But if I can find plastic tubing that fits, that is a lot easier.

Don, I don’t totally understand what you are talking about, but if either or both of these would work, I don’t mind sending them to you.  I have a bunch of the metal ones, and a couple of the plastic ones.  They are both for Badger.

Don't need the plastic ones- they are still available. I could use one of the metal ones- I'll send you a private message when I get home tomorrow.

I found them!  HLJ still has the pickup tubes for the old metal lids, so I ordered a few.
