I've got a few different places that I get Tamiya paint from...Sprue Brothers, Tower Hobbies, and TamiyaUSA themselves.  Each of them is showing signs of the logistics issues, but the holes in their inventory seem to be staggered, so what one place doesn't have...the next one does.

Glamdring

I never really use it, but I am a fan of their rattle cans for a base coat.  I half watched watched a YouTube video by Andy's Hobby Shop, he said it has been very hard getting Tamiya in for several months now, going back to July or so.

Likely increased demand with most of the world locked down to varying extents and people needing something to pass the time, and perhaps supply side production problems if the Tamiya plants have staffing issues and/or their own local lockdowns.

Back when I went to stores with a hobby department, it seemed like everyone suddenly had a Tamiya rack now, keeping that supply chain demand probably isn't easy either.

That is definitely true,I like using their rattlecan white primer as a basecoat for anything I'm painting white.I also used their enamel Hull Red in the can to do my Akagi hull, really tough finish and easier to use for big areas

Being canadian my online purchases are through Sunward hobbies...they seem to have lots of Tamiya stock and the exchange would likely compensate for the differences in shipping.

I wonder what rocket scientists say to co-workers when one of them doesn't get it?

MegaHobby still has white but they're out on the other colors I need. Same thing with spraygunner. I suspect this shortage may be related to the isopropyl alcohol shortage in the world. I guess I'll just need to build and paint slower until the world returns to normal.... thanks guys for the suggestions.

That's definitely old school.  I bet you can get some interesting results with whiskey and tube glue.  Good luck with the Tamiya paint search.  I like using their paints too.

Thanks Wpwar11 on the MegaHobby tip, I'll take a look at what they have.

In a worse-case scenario, I'll fully revert to my early childhood model building years and build future stuff unpainted! My friend calls them "camping models" (bring the whiskey and tube glue, leave the paint and airbrush at home!).

MegaHobby has flat white.  They also have flat black.  No metallic grey or tire black.  Your right about it running out.   Mega usually has plenty of these colors now it's out.  It's $2.50 per 1/3 oz jar and $12.95 shipping.   See if they have enough of your colors to make the shipping valuable.  I also use Sprue brothers and they don't have much either.

Pandemic TP ( Tamiya paint) Shortage?

Am I the only one running out of some Tamiya bottle acrylics and having difficulty finding any in stock? I just used the last of my XF-2 flat white and have had no luck for months finding any from my usual mail order sources. I ended up finding a few bottles of white on eBay but am paying a king's ransom in postage/ handling per bottle (please don't ask.... addictions can be $$$). Let me know if anyone knows of a vendor out there with inventory of the popular colors (flat/ gloss black & white, red, XF-56 metallic grey, XF-85 tire black) and reasonable prices ($3/ bottle, $5-10 to ship a quantity). Much thanks! John
