Need help connecting airbrush to compressor

greetings folks. This is my first post here, so sorry for the beg for help right off the bat. I came across this forum after a couple of hours searching on the internet for answers. It seems like this place is my best bet for getting those straight answers. 

So I haven’t airbrushed for many years. I used to do it a lot in my twenties but since moving to photoshop I haven’t played with traditional tools. 

I have an Iwata HP-A brush that is great. Always was fun to use. When I moved to the US I didnt want to bring the compressor with me. My wife is an ex-airbrushed too. And she has a Badger 180-11 compressor (but has long since lost her brush). I have the original Iwata hose that fits the brush just fine, but I cannot make the connection to the Badger compressor. 

There are lots of adapters for sale online that spec various thread size and pitch. But I don’t know what thread/pitch the Iwata and Badger systems use so I don’t know what I need to conver too and from. It seems the Badger uses standard US 1/4” brass plumbing fitting from what I can tell. 

Any assistance making the connection to the Iwata hose would be very much appreciated 

 

Both my Badger hoses are 1/8".  A good hardware store should have the 1/8 to 1/4 " adapter.  Threads are standard on those brass pipe fittings.

From the little reading I’ve done I found that one of two thread measurement systems is used. The US used the NPT designation whereas Britain (and elsewhere?) use BSP. So and 1/8” BSP hose will need an adapter to fit a 1/8” NPT compressor nipple. 

Im assuming the Badger uses the NPT system. And Iwata being a Japanese company does not, maybe the BSP. 

Also, Badger have a 5mm airbrush connector. I have a brass adapter with a very small and fine thread I’m assuming fits this designation.

i stand to be corrected on all of the above. Any further input or clarification is appreciated. 

I found a Badger to Iwata adapter that I bought. We’ll see how far that gets me. 

Well good news, the generic eBay special Iwata-to-Badger adapter proved to be reliable and I was able to get my kit hooked up and complete my job. Haven’t airbrushed in thirty years but it all came back to me. Was lots of fun
