I still think you got a bad bottle of that particular matte color.

A way to find out would be to try another Testor's matte enamel, thinned the same way, brushed onto a test surface.

Yes,that's what I said earlier,I tried it with Olive Flat and the same thing happened.

Sorry, I missed that comment.

What I'm wondering is if you might have thinned this particular bottle with Testors thinner once before and forgotten about it.

No,I actually just bought it from my local pharmacy in the "Model Kits and Paints" section(Open Stock)and added thinner. It doesn't really show brush marks as much as it drying with a strange texture.I think I'll just wet sand it and add a clear coat and report back to tell you guys what happens. Also I have looked into Mineral Spirits, they are a bit more spendy than Enamel thinner.

I don't know what happened or how the possibly latest iteration of Testors flats brush paint. All I can say is that when I brush paint Testors or Model Master enamels I thin them with odorless mineral spirits. What I'm wondering is if you might have thinned this particular bottle with Testors thinner once before and forgotten about it. One reason I use Mineral Spirits is it doesn't adversely effect the paint when stored with the MS in it, where Testors own thinner can. Just my thoughts.

Interesting.  No, as I mentioned, I use the same thinner with both the matte as well as the gloss enamels.  I've never had that happen, with either type.  That's not to say it can't be the root cause, just that it hasn't happened to me.

Yeah, though it may be my own error because something similar happened when I was brush-painting with flat Olive Green Enamel...

It could be that you got a bottle from a bad batch.  It could be that it reacted adversely with the thinner that you used, too.  What did you use?

Ordinarily I use generic mineral spirits to thin Testor's enamels.  But I once tried using lacquer thinner to thin a Testor enamel, and it turned the paint to cottage cheese.  Never again.

No,I use the same thinner I use for all my other Testors Enamels;Testors Enamel Thinner/Brush Cleaner.Perhaps It's that flat colors react differently than Gloss colors?

Testors Enamel dries weird

Hello all,I just got a little glass bottle of Testors Flat black enamel for brush painting,I stirred it to dissolve solids, shook it afterwards and started painting. But something was different this time;It dried way faster than my other Testors Enamel paints(Only about 10 minutes),thus slightly showing brush marks.I thought maybe I bought Acrylic instead of Enamel, but sure enough on the bottle it said "Enamel" in red.The thing is,this only happened with this particular Flat Black paint. This time I added some to a bottle cap,Added thinner and dipped the brush in and tried again. The same thing,It dries in clumps and shows brush marks.I thought maybe I didn't stir it well enough?I tried to stir again, but it was as liquidy and had no clumps recurring at the bottom.

If you guys have any explaination for this happening,I would really enjpy an answer.
