I never regretted spending more for something great.  I often regretted spending less for something that was adequate.

Thanks for exposing me to a paint booth that's worth the money! After reading through this thread I watched some videos on line and they're highly praised. If I hadn't just spent $170 on the MA Extra Large Dual Fan with lights unit, I would've picked up one of these. Enjoy the hobby!

MJY65...those prices are actually much better than what I was expecting to see.  If I had more room in my current location, I would definitely get the largest of those.  I'd probably do what Greg did too and have the exhaust professionally installed.

Sure, there are "cheaper" ways to go about this, but they're often not nearly as safe...and besides, as it is with a lot of things, time is money.  Glad you're enjoying your new spray booth!

Last summer I spent quite a bit of money on a booth and an exhaust system which I chose to have professionally installed (the exhaust, I mean). I chose not to mention that here as I figured I'd get called out on it. Now it seems appropriate to go out of my way to mention it.

My previous booth was a cardboard box with the front cut off. No exhaust at all. Hot dog, it was surely economical though.

When one's wife has had lung cancer and one wonders if one's procrastination, laziness, and foolishness in not having a proper spray booth may have been a contributing factor, money spent becomes a bit of a moot point.

I hope you can enjoy your paint sessions more now, I certainly can.

Oh, and I now regret not springing for the larger booth. I think you made a wise choice spending the extra bucks on the 36" wide.

Glad you are happy with the purchase.  It's always satisfying researching a product, spending the money, and have it turn it out well in the end.  I hope it brings you years of enjoyment.

Congrats on the new booth, it looks really well made and I suspect it will last as long as you care to be involved in the hobby. The price may have been a bit painful but another way to look at it is to view it as a long term investment in both your health and a hobby that you enjoy. Relative to lots of other hobbies out there ours is not really that expensive. Hope it brings you lots of hours of fun and relaxation.

Very happy with my new spray booth

Let me start by saying that I understand this is a relatively expensive booth and not what everyone is looking for.  That's totally understandable.

I started researching small hobby booths a few months ago.  It looks like quite a few are the same product rebranded by several companies.  Many of them also say that they are not intended for use with solvent based paints.  IMO, that kind of defeats the purpose.

My search for  "explosion proof" booths or exhaust fans led me to this website:

https://www.pacepaintbooth.com

After exchanging a few emails with the owner, I placed an order for the 36" model.  It arrived this week and I set it up today.

My first impression came from the box itself.  It was very solid and well marked to (hopefully) prevent rough handling.  Inside, the booth was packed in thick styrofoam and  all the edges were reinforced with sheet metal angles screwed together at the corners.  The booth was perfectly protected inside.

Assembly effort was minimal.  It consisted of fastening the extended work surface to the front with the provided brackets and screws.  Everything lined up without difficulty.

I set it up with a 4" flexible metal duct exhausted through an exterior wall.   The airflow pulls the vapor and overspray away quickly enough that you don't even see it.   Filter is a standard 12x20x1 furnace filter.  The interior lighting with two 60w LED bulbs is more than adequate.

Yes, this was an expensive hobby purchase, but I'm confident that the satisfaction of having a quality AMERICAN MADE booth sitting on my bench will last long after the price is forgotten.
