I spray mostly enamels and one thing I have always been plagued with is spraying into corners, such as where a wing might meet a fuselage, I end up with a very grainy surface where the two meet! I can sometimes avoid this by not attaching assemblies such as stabilators, vertical stabilizer/rudders and sometimes wings as well until after painting. Another method is to mask one side of the wing root and the after paint has cured, mask and paint the wing. This not always feasible however, if I have a kit with an ill fitting wing that may require some fitting and filling. Another situation is the one I am working on now: the inside of an intake duct that is a narrow u-shapped channel.
Is there another way to avoid and fix this? Since I am using MR. Color paint for this, I am thinking Mr. Leveling Thinner may keep those paint particles from drying too quickly. I have already ordered some, but also needed some other advice. The two ducts I made a mess of this morning are already sitting in a bowl of Simple Green to take off my mistake as I type.
I am also thinking I may be able to mask and paint in sections along each side of the duct (bottom, left, right) but this would be a pain as I wait for paint to cure.
You really won't see much of the inside of the duct once it is attached, but some may show around the opening
Thanks
