Thinking about a new airbrush
Posted by rcguy on Monday, April 5, 2021 8:17 PM

I have been using a Passche Talon airbrush for the last 6 months since I started airbrushing.

I've been thinking of getting a Iwata HP-C Plus airbrush to replace the Passche Talon.

I find the Passche trigger is finicky and sticks quite often and I seem to be getting inconsistent spraying for some reason and yes I do clean it regularly and attribute the problem with the trigger action.

Would the Iwata be an improvement over the Passche enough to justify spending more money on another airbrush.

Would the Iwata give me smoother action which is ultimately what I'm looking for and better spray consistency.

Thanks!

I am fairly new to airbrushing almost a year under my belt.  I have seen many threads saying recommend this or that AB,  Talon brushes are nice and I got to try a buddies one time.

When I bought my first airbrush it finally came down to --  ease of part replacement, and i could get any replacement part i needed for IWATA right off the shelf at Hobby Lobby. I don't really know if you will like the feel of the trigger any better or not but my I think that is kind of a individual preferance

Life tip:  Skip marrage: find the women you hate the most and buy her a house and car.

Well I one upped my self and purchased  Harder and Steenbeck Infinity CR plus today instead of the Iwata.

Hope it's much smoother than the Passche Talon.

H&S is top of the line. They are known in particular for great workmanship and fine tips. Let us know how you make out.

As to your Paasche, I recall reading about possible sticky triggers and it comes down to a little polishing on the trigger lever itself in some units. And to lightly lube with some glycerin which is a good idea anyway ( the trigger lever and needle sliding area). I'd be willing to bet your inconsistent results has more to do with paint mix etc than the airbrush. Even my inexpensive Ganzton will spray beautiful consistent patterns with a little tune up and properly mixed paint. So I kind of doubt that part of your issue is the brush itself.

I can probably agree with you on the trigger not being the cause of the paint flow inconsistency.

But the trigger on the Talon is definitely a issue now that I can compare it to something of better quality like the H&S.

Sounds like you got the H&S and like it, congrats !

One nice thing about the infinity is the choice of nozzle/needle sizes, from .15mm to .6mm.  They're not cheap, but top quality.

The nozzle/needles aren't cheap but no more expensive than buying say a new release Tamiya 1/35 armor kit.
