Hmmm!

Can't add much here.My Compressor Is an Old W.R. Brown that I managed to retrieve from the pawn shop! She is still Putting along with a distinct Put-Put well muffled by her location in my file cabinet lower drawer. Bolted to a rubber foot pad and the hose and remote starter custom installed for her. Moisture trap, air filter and all she's now twenty years in there. She has been around since the " Great Ozbourn build" That was forty five years ago. It's been fully rebuilt and cylinder honed at fifteen.

This is the one I use, which is nice and quiet.  I'm an early riser because of my job, so sometimes I'll be airbrushing at 4AM on a Sunday without issues.

Consider CO2.  Silent, dry and similar initial costs.  I've been using it for over 20 years.

Thanks,

A quick search turned up this article (link at the bottom of the reply). Disclaimer-I am totally unfamiliar with that website, but they at least have a variety of price options in their linked compressors.

You can compare the relative noise levels between compessors by scrolling down the page to the specifications and looking at "Noise Level". A lower dB level is less noise. Keep in mind that 3 dB is a factor of two. By that I mean that a 3 dB change means half (or twice) as loud. So a 50dB sound level would be twice as loud as a 47dB sound level, IF the manufacturer measured and reported accurately.

Hope your arm and wrist injuries are improving and time at the model bench may be helpful for that. Welcome back to the hobby and enjoy!

seeking compressor help
Posted by masterKamera on Wednesday, April 27, 2022 3:47 AM

Hello, one more person seeking a help for a compressor.

Havent been in modelling for about 20 years, had arm and wrist injuries that took the interest away.

I am trying to get some help figuring out the small portable mini air comprossers on Amazon right now.

Im not worried about the included airbrushes,, i planned on getting a better one anyways.. but some do come with varying qualities of air brush.

My main issue is NOISE level... some of the limited videos on Amazon have massive sound like a 1/2 horse power portable air compressor then suddenly its so quite you cant hear it spray water..

Most of my modelling and painting is going to be done at night, as in midnight to 1 am...
