I'm still too cowardly to finish 1/72 Luftwaffe aircraft using acrylics. I get acrylics to spray fine on 1/48 and 1/32 aircraft but for mottle and camouflage on 1/72 aircraft, there is too much room for error, particularly with some tip dry in this small scale.
I started using some MRP lacquers purchased from Spruebrothers. Already premixed in super accurate Rlm colors. Open window, put on mask, ventalation fan on also and spray away...effortless mottling (on practice mule) and coverage. Remember trying to get Rlm 04 acrylics to cover well (previously an exercise in futility for me)? The MRP lacquer Rlm 04 laid down super smooth coats using my lacquer dedicated GSI Creos .2mm P270 Procon on my WIP Tamiya 1/72 Bf 109 G-6 (what a kit!)...spraying session was effortless and extremely enjoyable without all that self imposed angst and struggle associated with acrylics in this small scale. Enjoyment...isn't that what our great hobby is all about or at least in great part?
Cleanup was also a breeze using Mr Hobby Tool cleaner; a couple of back flushes and spray throughs into cleaning pot; quick wipe of cup's inside; inspect and clean needle, function test go and done!
I'm going to complete the rest of this aircraft with MRP Rlm 74/75/76.
