I picked up a ICM's "Ghost of Kyiv" MiG-29. Not my usual subject matter but I wanted to build one to show support for my ancestors and throw a few bucks at a company that could surely use it right now.
The instructions only call out 8 colors in total, of which 5 are pretty self explanatory. That leaves the 3 major colors of the exterior, and I'm having a little trouble converting those to something I can get and know how to use. They are:
ICM 1028 "Offwhite": base color for the top of the aircraft. It says this is Revell 4, but Revell 4 is gloss white... so I don't think that's quite right.
ICM 1033 "Sky Grey": base color for the bottom of the aircraft. No equivalents from other paint lines listed.
ICM 1034 "Dark Sea Grey": nose cone. Says its's Tamiya AS-11, which is a spray can of "Medium Sea Gray (RAF)". I like to brush paint though so I need to find something that will work. There doesn't seem to be a direct conversion from Tamiya's AS line to one of the brushable lines.
Anyone have any advice for converting from ICM colors to Humbrol or Tamiya or something else mainstream? Or, failing that, anyone know a good reference for the proper top, bottom, and nose cone colors for a modern Ukrainian MiG-29?
Thanks!
