I only have a 0.2 mm airbrush at the moment no could use some advice on how to thin and spray Vallejo Model Air paints and Tamiya Acrylics please. What ratios and air pressure?
thanks
Darren
On the Vallejo MA you just need to additionally thin the paint a little bit, up to 20%, even 10% will probably be fine and you can just eye ball it. It will spray fine. Pressure depends on your airbrush, try starting at 20psi and see what you get there. I think I shoot it around 23psi flowing pressure or working pressure and 25 static pressure with my Badger 200 with .25 tip using a side cup. If you have gravity feed then you can most likely use less pressure than that. Some folks shoot it at 30 psi and I've seen comments on 18psi. It's what will go through your brush with your needle and tip that counts though.
Tamiya you can thin 100%, even 125% thinner if using lacquer thinner .I can't speak for their acrylic thinner because I've never used it. 125 is slightly stronger on thinner than a 50/50 mix ratio. 100% is 50/50. I've shot this stuff all the way from 18psi to 30 depending what I'm doing. On auto bodies I thin it with denatured alcohol or Mr Color Leveling thinner push the pressure up and basically fog the car in paint from a bit of a distance away compared to finer work shooting close in.
Thank you for all that info, it's a big help.
