Masking and Paint Bleed Issues
Posted by Worldway on Saturday, December 31, 2022 3:59 PM

Hi, I'm sure this has been covered in the past however I did do a search without luck.

I am building a Tamiya 1/24 Mustang GT.  I masked the windshield with the masking tape provided.  I also masked the opposite side with standard masking tape.  I now have two issues I'm not quite sure of how to resolve.

The first issue is that I did end up with some bleed through under the tape.  I'm wondering what the best way is to remove the excess paint without leaving marks on the windshield.  I used Tamiya Acrylic paint thinned with IPA in my airbrush.

The second issue is that the standard masking tape left quite a bit of residue on the windshield.  (I think it was old tape).  How do I remove it safetly.  Because both problems are on the windshield I think it's a bit more delicate than other areas of the model.  I can't experiment then repaint if it doesn't work.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
