Sprayaway system for airbrushing?
Posted by Mark Joyce on Monday, April 26, 2004 5:19 PM
Well, the wife has given me her blessing to redo part of the garage into a hobby area for meAngel [angel]. As such, I've decided to invest in a spray booth-for both my health and for (hopefully) an improvement in my airbrushing results.Big Smile [:D] I've also decided it's best for me to purchase one instead of make my own.

Anyways, I have been looking into the Artograph spray booths on the Dixieart website-the prices seem to give me the best bang for the buck. I thought I had my mind made up, until I saw a company that markets an item called the Sprayaway. Basically, it appears to operate by using suction to remove the overspray from the painting area, yet it has no booth.

Is anyone familiar with the Sprayaway, and it's usefullness for painting models? I generally use enamels for painting, so removing those fumes is important to me. I didn't know if this Sprayaway would accomplish it as well as a booth (I know, it's still recommended that one wear a respirator).

Also, since I mainly build aircraft in 1/48 scale, some of those bombers are rather big! I worry that a booth may be a bit cramped at times, and since the Sprayaway has no booth, it would eliminate this problem to a great degree.

Thanks for any imput!

Mark
