I visited my local Micheals and found a Badger150 airbrush for $150. But with a 40% off coupon, i can get it for $75. Has anyone heard of Badger? And are they very good f5r modeling? Any advice is appreiated. If Badger is not good, please recommmend a good airbrush.

Badger is good, it's one of the best brands going. Is that model a single or double action? If it's single action, I'd hold out for double, you don't want to have to re-learn airbrushing. Keep in mind also that I got my Revolution CR from Dixieart for less money than that, and shipping was free. If you can get a double action for around the same bucks, I'd say go for it.

Welcome to the forum TAG_LKSign - Welcome [#welcome]. Yep, Badger make fine airbrushes as Iwata and other brands mentioned in this forum. The real gist is that you have to practice using these airbrushes to got their optimum performance.

Double action. The airbrush will give you years of service. And the price sounds good too.

Which Badger 150 is that?
They sell it several different ways.
Is that in a wooden box?

Thnx for replies. Yes, it is a double action, and yes, it does come in a wooden box. i can't get it and look at it, for it is in a wooden box, and I was in a hurry, and didn't wanna find a worker to open it up. Also, are Testors very good? I also have seen a Complete Airbrushing System from them, with compressor and airbrush for $141.

Isn't the wooden box one the special edition with 3 tips? If that is what the store was selling I'd buy one in a heartbeat!

Bottom feed? Side feed? BBQ feed?

I don't think it is a special edition roosterfish as it is listed on Badger's web site as either the 150-4, 150-5, or 150-7 depending on what it comes with.

Which Testors set did you see there? If it was an Aztek I personally would avoid it, but others like them.

If the airbrush is the one in the wooden box it looks like quite a bargain.

Do they sell the Badger 150 without being in a set?
It would save you some money that way as you don't really need all three tips and needles unless you plan on using it for something else besides modelling.

I would agree. If it retails for $150 I can only get it for 40% off retail which would be $90.

Mike, beat you by one second. Big Smile [:D] I might ask TAG...what are you going to use the airbrush for? If it is for models I believe the standard sized, not the heavy tip, would be the best compromise for thin lines and paint coverage.

Yes, I will be modeling with it. I am not completely sure which set it is. I need to get back there and look at the stuff in it.

TAG,

The only tips and needles you will use for modeling are the #1 and the #3, and as roosterfish already mentioned, they are what you would use.

How easy is the airbrush to clean? If its not too difficult, and I wouldn't mess it up, I think I may be getting it soon.

They are all about the same in terms of cleaning them.
They are not hard to clean but you must treat them nicely when you do so that they work the next time. Wink [;)]

If you like other Badger airbrushes and want to order one on the phone I can get you 40% off any Badger product.
Shoot me an email if interested. Wink [;)]

1337,

There's nothing wrong with siphon-feed airbrushes. They do need a bit more air pressure to spray reliably than the gravity-feed models do but they still work great and spray just as fine a line.

I agree, but the only problem is how it obstructs with my hands. i have big hands. My aztek sidefeed was like that, even the gravity ones.

Thnx Mike, but I got the 40% off on my own. Unless you can get an extra 40%....I have a very large compressor, the kind that aren't meant for models, but heavy duty usage, such as nail guns, air wrench, etc....would it work, and what would I need to get the hook-ups for it?

Yes, that compressor will work just fine.
I would buy a combination regulator / moisture filter for it and you should be ready to go.

That's pretty much what I use as well. Mike has you on the right track, other than an adapter to connect your hose the regulator / trap is really all you need. It probably already has a regulator on it, and if that's the case all you'll need is the moisture trap.

TAG, you'll probably save more money by buying online, DixieArt for example. One day I got really tired of cleaning up my Aztek, that I clipped the Michael's coupon and went out & bought a Badger 200-3. I thought wow, what a bargin, 40% off!! But then I compared prices online to be disappointed. I could have saved an extra $20 w/free shipping & no tax from DixieArt.
