Eric: I have had great success with Krylon "Short Cuts" Gloss balck. Short Cuts goes on quickl and drys very fast. Comes in a 1 oz bottle and can be airbrushed. Thin and cleanup with lacquer thinner. Remember to use good ventilation. "Short Cuts" can be found in the paint section of K Mart. To check other retail sources, go to Krylon on the web.

Krylon base coat for AlClad?
Posted by echolmberg on Monday, May 10, 2004 12:54 PM
Hi everyone! I picked up a bottle of AlClad Chrome the other day. I've heard lots of good stuff about this AlClad and I wanted to give it a try but I've heard that you need to give it a primer coat first. I thought I've heard people say that for the AlClad chrome they've had good results with Krylon gloss black.

1) Is this true?
2) Am I correct in thinking that Krylon is an automotive paint?

I was also wondering if this Krylon comes in an aerosol or can I get a small bottle of the stuff and thin it? If I were able to get it in a small bottle, what would be the best type of thinner to use for air-brushing?

Thanks in advance!

Eric
