Tamiya Enamel Drying time?
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, May 17, 2004 9:04 PM
How long should tamiya enamels be left to dry before coating. The instructions on my bottle are in Japanese! it seems to dry a lot quicker than humbrol which recommends 6 hours. Any tips would be much appreciated,
Cheers.

I try and give all paints 48 hours before coating with Future or any flat, clear coat, so as to not cause any adverse reactions.
Some people only wait 24 hours, but I feel the extra day is worth it.

Enamels dry much much slower than acrylics. Sometimes it seems to me that an acrylic coat can be overcoated after just a few minutes (don't try it though; this is just me being a bit impatient), whereas an enamel coat will be tacky even after several hours.Big Smile [:D] So I suppose one or two days is about right...
