Thank for your reply goldenretriver and albert. BTW, have any of you use the Tamiya Color TS-30 silver leaf srpay can? This is what our LHS recomended for metal finishes.

I used Tamiaya flat aluminum on my F-14 wing leading edges and fin leading edges. Also for many of my other planes' pitot tubes. Just make sure you stir the paint really well!Smile [:)]

I have used Tamiya flat aluminum and it is not bad. As with any other metalic, make sure the surface is as smooth and clean as possible. It should work for your 1/72 scale aircraft. I would avoid Tamiya chrome as it has too much grain in it to achieve a smooth look.

Metal Finish help
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, May 18, 2004 8:49 AM
I just bought an Academy 1/72 mig-21 finnish version and the finish is in metal. The only paint available in our LHS is tamiya. Any one tried painting their model in this color using tamiya paints? Thanks for any input.
