Vinyl Track Painting: Enamels or Acrylics?

I spray my rubber band treds with acrylic paints and put them on the tank with no problems. Everything goes fine. Were you bending the treads alot or rough handeling them? That would lead to cracking or peeling paint. Worst case you could glue the treads on and then handpaint the acrylic paint on, but it shouldn't be a problem if you don't bend them much.

I've never had luck painting vinyl tracks with enamel as a base coat because it just doesn't cure properly and remains tacky. I always prime my vinyl tracks with cheap acrylic paint first. I will get some minor cracking or chipping when I install the tracks, but that is easily touched up once they are on the tank. Then I can do any detailing, rusting, or weathering without problems.
